Lone Horn - Thirteen (Big Star)

about

Song recorded by Lone Horn for the TINALS (This Is Not A Love Song) Compilation 3.

Thirteen, by Big Star, is for us a poignant representation of adolescence, not only in the chronological sense, but also as a state of mind. The themes are the classic ones: hope, the uncertainty of love, going dancing, listening to the Rolling Stones. Paint it Black is a piece that was loved by us, and before us by our parents: the quote in that verse is an act of respect and love for the music of the past. "Standing on the shoulders of Giants" said R.E.M., and before them Newton and many others. Rock and Roll will stay with us, like adolescence, because it is ultimately a state of mind.

Thirteen, written by Alex Chilton and Chris Bell, was the song that introduced many of us to Big Star, accompanying us not only in moments of emotional discontent, but also on our journey to musical discovery: stuff you carry around with you. the life.
